This year we have our youngest panel ever with a huge amount of 4th class boys and even two 3rd class boys who have had to help us out. We have a small but committed number of boys from 5th class too and over the past five months they have blended together into a very skilled team who pride themselves on their hard work and sportsmanship in games.
When the league started we thought we had a nice looking team and faced a tough opener against Gaelscoil Barra, a team with a good reputation. In a titanic battle we emerged victors with two points to spare and this set the tone for the season ahead. Today we faced into our final game knowing that a win would secure us second place in the league and reward for all the hard work in training and on the field. In the end the team turned in their best performance of the year and led by their captain, Daniel Quaynor, they kept their opposition scoreless whilst bagging an impressive 4-8 at the other end.
A big thanks is due to the various parents and grandparents who gave lifts throughout the year and attended the games. Thank you also to Mr. Baxter for his hurling expertise which has really brought these boys on this year. We are also very grateful to Ballymun Kickhams for the use of their pitches this year. Our biggest thanks however is reserved for the boys who have done themselves and the school proud. We are very proud of them.
